<description>

GeoEye-1 will have the highest resolution of any commercial imaging system --
0.41-meters or 16 inches for panchromatic (black and white) imagery
and multispectral (color) imagery at 1.65-meter resolution. The
satellite is designed to offer three-meter accuracy, which means
that end users can map natural and man-made features to within
three meters of their actual locations on the surface of the
Earth without ground control points. GeoEye-1 was financed in
part by GeoEye's approximate $500-million contract with the
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

<title>Geocaching with Kids</title>
<link>http://www.geostl.com/SLAGAPostNuke/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=441</link>
<description>

Geocaching is a great activity for all ages. Whether parents want to explore nature with their children or teachers want to activate the learning environment with hands-on experiences, there's a geocache adventure that's right for you.

Although some parents and teachers are setting up special geocaches for scout groups and classes, you don't need a special geocache for children. The key is to plan ahead and think about activities that will interest and motivate children and young adults. For example, you might do a geocache in the spring or summer and bring along a wildflower guide. We found the tiger lily on the right on a roadside near a trail leading to a geocache.

<title>Geocaching Basics - Transferring Ownership of Trackables </title>
<link>http://www.geostl.com/SLAGAPostNuke/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=439</link>
<description>As circumstances arise, you may want to transfer ownership of your trackable item to a friend or family member’s account. In order to change ownership, you will need to use our adoption tool:

http://www.geocaching.com/adopt

Simply enter the trackable item's reference number (TBXXX) of the listing you were asked to adopt or would like to put up for adoption and follow the prompts. The new owner will then need to visit this site to accept the transfer using the same information.

Adoptions allow you to preserve all historical information so that your trackable items can continue moving in the world, collecting stories and photos along the way!</description>

<title>Be Proud of St. Louis Caches</title>
<link>http://www.geostl.com/SLAGAPostNuke/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=435</link>
<description>This is a log of a cache in the St. Louis area from last year, but is worthy of publishing.

August 7, 2007 by SherpaRon
About a month ago, I went hunting for a place to spend a long weekend, and grab a few caches. I checked out areas within a 5 hour drive from Louisville. I pulled a lot of PQ’s and studied them for interesting spots. When I saw the caches along Grant’s Trail, I knew I had found our spot. We just love caching on bikes, so our decision was made. Last weekend we packed up the bikes and headed to St. Louis. While it was nice and toasty (ok it was downright HOT!!!), we had a great time. Grant’s Trail was awesome, we went 48 for 48 on hunting the caches along the trail, but we earned every smiley. There were too many clever caches to start mentioning them by name, but I could tell that the hiders in the area take great pride in their cache placements and containers. Other than Grant’s Trail, we tried to hit the major parks in the area, as well as many of the smaller parks. I am amazed to say that out of the 130+ caches we found, I can’t remember finding 1 light pole or guardrail cache. I’m not opposed to hunting LP’s or GR’s, but they don’t really take a lot of imagination to hunt or hide. I just think that is a great testament to the cache hiders in the area.
So, I just want to take this time to thank all of the local cachers for doing such a fine job. I will definitely recommend St. Louis to anyone who really enjoys caching for what it was meant to be. There are other places where you can find MORE caches, but I haven’t seen a place where you could hunt BETTER caches....and I’ll take QUALITY over QUANTITY every time.

Thanks, SherpaRon &amp; Li’l AL Louisville, Ky
