My Intro
Hello all... 1st post, but not really to Geocaching, though I have much to learn...
Been in and out of Caching for a few years, seems like it goes in spurts...
I use a Garmin Colorado 400T that everyone on the net seems to think is the worst GPSr ever, but I have not had any issues with it other than short Battery life... Seems like it eats the batts.
I live in N. County (Riverview Bellefountain area) and look for caches whenever I have time, usually by myself as my friends think its goofy...
Online I always either uses solo63137 (from a Truck Club I used to run called So Lo Minis) or smullen (Scott Mullen, my name)... Not real creative I know...
I poke about on Geocaching and groundspeak a bit here and there when I am looking for something or have something to contribute.
I'm also into ATVs, camping, Car and Home Audio, Custom Trucks and pretty big into Firearms. I like to build/customize them, target shoot, etc.. Been shooting Steel Plates Competitions this summer when I have time...
Maybe I can make it to an event some time and meet some of you...

Re: My Intro
Welcome to SLAGA! If you're free this Saturday evening, please consider joining us for the annual Christmas party. If not, consider the New Year's day meet and greet/group hunt. Or the upcoming Winter PotLuck. Details, including links to the event pages, are on the calendar on the SLAGA home page.

Re: My Intro
Hello Scott,
Welcome to SLAGA. I've got a Colorado 400T as well, and consider it a fine GPSr. I've never seen a problem with the batteries though. I use rechargable batteries and can usually go most of a day on a set. I do prefer rechargable as I think I'll save money in the long run. Have you ever logged into garmin.com and updated the firmware of your GPSr? That might help.
Hope to see you at the party tomorrow.

Re: My Intro
Hello Scott & welcome to SLAGA. I use a Colorado 300 and an Oregon 400T and do not have battery issues. I, like Jerry, use rechargeable batteries and find the Duracell rechargables are much better than any others I have tried. They will hold a charge longer on the shelf and last longer in the GPSr than Energizer batteries or any lesser brands that I have tried. Be sure you go to set-up and put your battery setting on the type of battery you are using. I don't think it changes battery life but it will change the battery life indicator to read properly.

Re: My Intro
Hi All,
I am a newby here, along with my husband. I thought maybe I would see a map of caches near my house - don't see it. We have a friend who has been trying to get us interested in gc for several years, but it took a program on ch 9 to really peek our interest. How do we get started besides waiting for a class? We know how to find our way using coordinates. And how do I register him?
