New to gc

Hi All!
My husband and I are new at this. A friend of his has been trying to get us interested for years, but the show on ch 9 got us going. I thought I could find a map of caches near our home. How do you get started other than wait for a class?

Welcome aboard! You're gonna have fun, guaranteed.

You're certainly welcome to join us for the meet and greet on August 27th, or the SLAGA fall picnic on September 11. See the calendar on the SLAGA home page for details.

To get started in your neighborhood, the first thing to do (if you haven't done it already) is to go to the geocaching.com web site and sign up for a free account. Once you're logged in, hover over "Play" in the upper left corner of the home page. Click on "Hide & Seek a Cache". On the next screen, enter your address or zip code in the correct box and click "Go" next to it. This will give you a list of caches in order of distance from that location. If you want to see a map instead, click the "Map this Location" link in the upper right corner.

If you give us some idea of where you're located, somebody will likely volunteer to go caching with you!

Welcome to SLAGA. Tom gave you some great advice on getting started. The best way to get to know the people of SLAGA is to come out to our events. As Tom said, we have a meet & greet coming up in a couple weeks. Hope to see you there.

Janet, welcome to the world of caching! We have been caching for about 2.5 years and love it. We have been places we didn't know about and met lots of wonderful people. Tom's advice was perfect for getting started.

Hope to see you at one of the events ~ and out caching. Give a holler if you need a hint on any caches we have found!
